Our Reef Stories

Copywriting | Art Direction | Production | Editorial Storytelling

As part of the team at Wonderkarma, I worked in partnership with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation and Traditional Owners of the Great Barrier Reef to showcase the work that Traditional Owners are doing on their land and sea Country to slow the effects of climate change.

This work has been transformative, for both the Reef and the Traditional Owner communities themselves. It’s creating an unstoppable and positive momentum that’s nothing short of a social movement – redefining the conversation about the value and importance of Indigenous leadership and input.

Working on-Country with Traditional Owner groups, my job was to help document and tell these stories through videos, articles and narratives housed at a Traditional Owner-led website called OurReefStories.com.au

Our Reef Stories | Impact Video

Leading. Inspiring. Healing. showcases how Traditional Owners all across the Great Barrier Reef and its Catchments are delivering on their aspirations for land and sea Country and creating better outcomes for their communities.

But it’s much bigger than that. In many ways, Leading. Inspiring. Healing. documents a social movement – the much-needed step change happening in the conversation about the value and impact of Indigenous input and leadership.

Our Reef Stories | TOs and Data

Traditional Owners are the first scientists, observing and managing their land and sea Country since time immemorial. Today, much of their work centres around monitoring Country, creating data that can be used within their community or shared with Western science to create better outcomes for the Reef.
